Biking You can enjoy riding on the city's 3 mile (5.5 km) boardwalk called El Malecon, enjoying sunrise or sunset. near the waterfront. We have two for guests, and more can be rented.
Zip Lining For those folks who enjoy the heights and speed, zip lining occurs less than a two hour drive away. Enjoy a plateful of adrenaline in the middle of the desert around Cabo San Lucas or in one of the dry river beds called arroyos in Los Barriles whether beginner or experienced.
Riding ATV's If you prefer to ride fast on 4 wheelers you can rent a quad and enjoy the amazing natural views where desert, rocks, sand, sea and sky merge. Helmet is important but camera a must, too.
Camping Be in contact with mother nature and explore remote or more populated areas either on a mountain or on one of the many beaches. RV parking as well as tent camping is available with all kind of services depending on your comfort needs.
SEA
Kayaking Enjoy this amazing sport to explore the beauty of nature in a very environmentally friendly way without big noise or petroleum in the quiet Bay of La Paz. With its many beaches its a kayaking paradise. If you are rookie, noworries. Balandra's shallow waters are perfect for you. The more experienced explore the islands alone or on one of the many tours. For those seeking bigger challenges, agencies assist to plan excursions such as a 12 day (65 mile) trip from Loreto to La Paz.
Scuba Diving/Snorkeling Snorkel around playful sea lions or scuba dive with sharks and mantas. Many La Paz dive companies offer daily trips. Our area has the privilige to have islands, reefs and wrecks with more than 100 ft of visibility and about 700 species of fish . You can get your diving certification (PADI) about two hours away. Cabo Pulmo National Park its the only living coral reef between Alaska and Argentina. For its diversity and age (25000 years), it's considered one of the most exotic and preserved live coral reefs of the world!!!
Sailing Since days of old, La Paz has been one of the most visited places for sea scouts staring with Hernan Cortez and a host of other navigators. Hear an infinite number of stories and legends of sea mounsters, ghosts, pirates and treasures. If you are a marine nature lover and would like to experiment adventure like olden times, bring set sail for Baja. All you need to do is ask for a permit from the harbor master (Capitania Del Puerto), and dock in one of the many marinas (around 10) with all of the services you can imagine (parts, repairs, bar, wifi, phone, restaurant, restrooms, etc.).
Surfing (Wind, Wave, Kite) If you are interested in Baja breezes, the peninsula is full of destinations from north to south. November through March is a popular season; however, strong summer winds make for good fun, too. These wines are known locally know as "Coromuel winds" and can be from 18 to 30 knots steady! Todos Santos, San Pedrito, and Los Barriles are nearby and also offer popular areas for riding the wind.
Fishing (Fly, Sport, Surf, Spear) As the famous French explorer Jacques Cousteau said, "The Sea of Cortez is the aquarium of the world." The California Gulf is one of the 5 marine ecosystems boasting the most biodiversity in the whole world! The Sea of Cortez counts 740 endemic species, and 5 of the 8 species of sea turtles that exist live in this area. Around 40 percent of the marine mammal species living on the planet can be found here. While you won't be catching most of this sea life, you get the idea. Our Sea is indeed a huge acquarium...for fishing, as well. No matter what kind of angler you are or what kind of money you want to spend, we can help you find your fit. You can also enjoy one of the many annual sport fishing tournaments such as The Gold Cup, Governor's Cup, Bisbee's, Dorado Shoot Out, and the Black and Blue Marlin
Whale Watching The gray whale migrates to our area where the calves are born and nurse from January to March. It is not uncommon for the whales to surround your boat and let you pet them. |
