La Paz SunsetEl Malecón: Casa Cóctel is located 4 short blocks from this beautiful tiled walkway alongside the Sea of Cortez.  Each day folks just take their sport shoes, bikes, or roller skates and enjoy this central part of the La Paz community.  El Malecon’s 5km walkway is full of shopping places, restaurants, bars, and local hand crafts.  The sunset from El Malecón cannot be missed.  Although palm frond umbrellas known as “palapas” have been installed seaside in many of the sandy areas of El Malecón, you rarely see anyone sunbathing in this urban environment.  It’s used mostly for relaxing chats and exercise.

Coromuel: This is one of the the most popular beaches of La Paz where mostly locals hang out.  Coromuel is one of the closest beaches to city center and has restaurants, parking, and restrooms.  It's also where the Malecón comes to an end.

La Concha: Walking in between the buildings at La Concha Perla Beach Club, you will find a small public beach area  with some small rocky alcoves. The palapas are considered private use by guests of the condos and club.  The Sunset Bar & Grill and  the hotel facility Las Palmas offer food and beverage.  Catamarans, kayaks and diving gear are for rent.  La Concha also is home to the Mosquito Fleet and the Cortez Club for fishing and water adventures.  Even though the name of the beach means seashell, we haven't found very many here.

El Caimancito: The name means little alligator.  From 9:00am to 8:00pm, this tiny beach front is generally open to the public, unless in use for private events such as weddings.  Palapas and benches line the shoreline.  The aquarium is nearby.  The entry is posted with warnings that no alcohol is allowed.

Tesoro: This small little, quiet beach was named after a treasure was discovered during construction in 1965.Demian with coral at Punta Pescadero

Pichilingue: This is an important commercial port and home of Baja Ferries offering service to the mainland.  Near the port is a beach area with palapa roofs and food options.

Balandra: This beautiful calm beach offers something that the other local beaches don’t:  beautiful clear water, warm, gentle, and very shallow so that you can walk and walk and walk into the water knee to waist deep across the bay.  Balandra has free public barbecue grills and some public umbrellas as well.  Camping is allowed, but watch out for the sand fleas that come out at night.  Balandra’s identified by a rock formation known as "Hongo" or "Mushroom" that is replicated in a water fountain in the city center.

Tecolote: This is the largest beach area.  It’s a lovely place for swimming and water sports.  Sports equipment is available for rental.  Waterfront restaurants offer refreshments.  Camping allowed.coromuelfrommalecon

Coyote: The sandy beach tucked in a cove welcomes campers and RV's with amenities such as eats, drinking water, pit toilets, and showers.

Isla Espiritu Santo: The Island Spirit is the closest to the bay La Paz and the most beautiful of all islands Sea of Cortez.  A short boat ride gets you to this sandy beach area perfect for picking up shells, watching birds, or observing sea lions.
