Restaurants & Bars

We love to cook and take care of folks, but often visitors want to know where we enjoy eating out in the area.  Here are a few of the eating establishments in the area that we have visited and recommend for a break from the day or a night out.  This page is a work in progress so please be patient.

COFFEE

Breezemart:  Good coffee from a Mazzorca espresso machine.  Open 24 hours with free wi-fi and the closest ATM to Casa Cóctel.

Café de las O: Conveniently located near C.C.C. grocery on Colima.  Owners are very inviting.

FRENCH

La Bohème:  French ownership serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Owner introduced us to fresh passionfruit water by the pitcher.  We were entertained one evening by beautiful belly dancers while having dinner in the inner courtyard.

ITALIAN

Café Milano:  Live Jazz on Friday nights.  Faema espresso machine.  Good wine selection.  Fine dining with great service.

SEAFOOD

El Bismarckcito:  Excellent seafood served by equally good waitstaff.  Live music often.  Great sidewalk dining near waterfront location.

Mariscos Dos Mares:  We ate excellent fish tacos not even listed on the menu.  Waterfront view but indoors with air conditioning.

MEXICAN

El Callejón:  Outdoor seating with free wi-fi.  Beer on draft.  Waitstaff with personality.  Big heaping pile of savory nachos.  Live guitar music every night.

La Fonda: Inexpensive comida corrida, open every day.

Rancho Viejo:  Open 24 hours.  Great all around Mexican food and inexpensive breakfasts.  Maybe you’ll get to hear Martin play some guitar music for ya.

Tequilas Bar & Grill:  Owner Pedro Sparrow opened in 1997 in a .  Over 100 tequilas.  Pool table.  Soon to be serving brick oven Italian cracker-thin crust pizza from the former Toscana’s Gourmet Pizza run by Pedro's wife Veronica Perpule.  Building is over 100 years old and was a Gustav Eiffel design.

El Carrito:  Outdoor seating with live music often.  Friendly staff.  Local seafood.  Great story of owners buying space after a successful run with seafood service from a street cart, thus, the name.

STEAK

Buffalo Bar B-Q:  Great cuts of meat, huge wine list, full bar where you can even find Mexican Fernet.  Pricier steaks, but also excellent burger accompanied by thin, crispy fries with seasoned salt, but also great salad selections with crispy fresh lettuces.

OTHER

Tailhunter:  Best burger deal in town with amazing view from 3 floors facing the Bay of La Paz.  This is the sport fisherman’s hangout heaven.  Waitstaff provide attentive but non-intrusive service.

Salsipuedes:  Serves light bar food for a fee, but popcorn for free.  Partners are also part of Sapore gourmet shop.  Hosts cultural events and cinema nights.  Front window views of the waterfront, but also larger backyard seating.

VEGETARIAN

El Quinto Sol:  Vegetarian dining offering soy and gluten options inside a health food store where bread baked on premise is for sale.

CHINESE

Nuevo Pekin:  Chinese food prepared by folks speaking Chinese inside a building that also houses a hotel of the same name.  Lotsa Chinese décor here.
